when I came home last night, around 10:30pm, I noticed the car that was parked in my fav spot had it's headlights on, and was running. I waited a minute, but it didn't look like they were going anywhere. I sigh and park (much) further away. as I'm walking up to my stoop, I walk past the BMW that was still running, with it's headlights on. I notice there was no one inside. I figured they were just warming up the car and go inside.
around 11:15ish, I get a phone call from a buddy, and we chat for a while. as I'm walking past my front door, I notice that the BMW is ~still~ running, and ~still~ has it's lights on. odd, but it's not my car, not my problem, right?
after the phone call, I settle down, and read a book. it's finally 12:30 when I turn off the lights to go to sleep. my window is glowing red from the taillights of the BMW that was .still. running and .still. had it's lights on.
ok, that's it. last draw. I couldn't get to sleep with my window lit up, and me thinking about that car. I pop outside, and knock on the window. (no reason, but I wanted to say I knocked first.) I try the handle, and it's open.
I have never been inside a BMW before, and for a nano second I thought about taking it for a ride around the block. I decided not to because, well, it looked obnoxious to drive. all without actually getting into the car, I tried to turn the key to the off position. it wouldn't budge. I jiggle the steering wheel and the key still won't budge. I notice a button that says "engine on/off" and I press that and the car shuts down and the steering wheel moves up. the key came came out smoothly. I tucked the key on the turn signal/wiper blades handle next to the ignition (or rather, where the ignition would be on a regular car).
I shut the door and return to a blissful dark window and go to sleep.
in the morning, the BMW was still there. not sure if it will be there tonight. and I have no idea which neighbor this car belongs to. but I do know, I should have parked it across the street and moved my car in the spot. (part of the reason I like to park there is because it keeps other people from shining their lights right in my bedroom window)
